One year of Hove Micro-School - what's next?

A new school year is filled with excitement and new beginnings, but it’s also an opportunity to reflect on progress. One year ago, I had a vision of creating a learning environment which bridged the gap between home-schooling and mainstream education. I didn’t just want to set up a school, I wanted to build a community; a space where children, parents and teachers could collaborate to create the best learning environment for the children involved.

Over 20 children aged between 8 and 13 years joined us to benefit from expert individual tuition, vital parental input and the benefits of peer interaction. A year later, I am so proud of the creative, collaborative, and caring hub Hove Micro-School has become and the fact that we’re now able expand even further.

Following our recent Ofsted Inspection and feedback from local parents in Hove, we’ve enriched our ‘home from home’ school with a new Early Years’ Classroom to support pupils aged 5-7 years. Our two new teachers , Jess and Emma have joined us to bring their early years and SEND experience to the school. It’s so exciting to see our community growing, with parents, teachers and pupils coming together with a shared passion for blended learning.

A key part of my vision for Hove Micro-School has always been about enriching children’s education with new experiences. I’m really excited that for our second year, we are now also able to offer morning clubs with experts from the Brighton and Hove community offering tuition in music, yoga, sewing, Kung Fu and more.

The vision I had for Hove Micro-School was to build a space that really put children’s learning first. We recently held our first official 'parents' evening' where teachers and parents spent time sharing ideas, collaborating and planning to build the right environment for our children. The parents I work with have been an invaluable source of help in growing this community and a special thanks goes to them for their constant support and encouragement of the vision I have for our school.

I’m so excited to see what’s in store for us over a second school year and help even more pupils and families get the best education for them. We currently have a few more places left for younger pupils and a waiting list for older ages, so please do get in touch if you’d like more information.
